I find inspiration for my bullet casing jewelry by looking at the world around me. When I look around, I see undiscovered beauty everywhere. What some may consider an eyesore or a piece of junk, I see as an opportunity to tear down that misinterpretation and create a piece of art. When I design a piece of art, I always have the phrase “don't judge a book by its cover” in mind. I believe if people look past the outside they might be surprised at what they find on the inside.
That phrase has been a major motivator in my life, and I believe my work reflects it. By using recycled bullet casings, I take something that is interpreted to to be dangerous and violent and make it beautiful. I like to use recycled and natural materials because of all the little imperfections. These imperfections bring my jewelry to life by giving each piece its own unique characteristics and identity. The unique quality of the materials I use make it so no two pieces will ever be alike.
